Mission Details

Yaogan 12

The Yaogan 5 (Remote Sensing Satellite 5) satellite series consists of optical government remote sensing satellites, likely used as military reconnaissance satellites. They appear to be the successors of the ZY-2 (JB-3) series.

Yaogan 5 was launched by a CZ-4B rocket from China's Taiyuan space center on 15. December 2008. It is likely an optical reconnaissance satellite.

The second satellite of this series, Yaogan 12, was launched on 9 November 2011 together with a piggyback microsatellite.
