SpaceX performed this launch for free as compensation to Spacecom for the loss of AMOS-6. After launch, recovery vessel Ms. Tree successfully caught a fairing half in her net.
AMOS-17 will operate from 17°E and will expand and strengthen Spacecom’s coverage of the growing satellite service markets in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. AMOS-17 will be designed for an in-orbit life of more than 15 years with a payload power of approximately 8.5 kW.
