The ST 2 (Shen Tong 2) series satellites are reportedly Chinese military comsats and are follow-ups to the ST 1 series. They reportedly provide Ku-band communication and feature advanced multiple steerable spot beam antenna technology to enable ground users to communicate while on the move as well as secured uplink transmission for satellite antenna control. ChinaSat-2D is the third satellite in this series and is also known as ZX 2D (ChinaSat 2D).
