Kompass-2

Wiki

Kompass-2 is the second in a series of three satellites in the Kompass series. It's a Russian satellite for measuring ionospheric impacts of earthquakes, and aims at better prediction of earthquakes. The power is provided by solar panels (total area of 1m²) and a Ni-Cd battery 4Ah. The satellite thus has about 50W at a voltage of 27V. A microprocessor with 100MB flash memory controls the different systems. The satellite initially failed to respond to ground commands after launch, but was later put into service when the problem was resolved.
