According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, this 50-kilogram nanosatellite is characterized by the Iranian satellite launched earlier, Rasad 1, an improved attitude control system, a camera with a better optical resolution (400 meters), and better solar cells. The satellite was to provide high-precision images for weather observation and monitoring of natural disasters. The satellite was developed by students from the University of Science and Technology of Iran for the Iranian Space Agency.
