The IGS-Optical 3, and 4 (Intelligence Gathering Satellite) are second-generation Japanese optical reconnaissance satellites. The satellites are operated by the Cabinet Satellite Information Center. The satellite serves both Japan's national defense and civil natural disaster monitoring. IGS-Optical 3 ended operations in September 2017 after a malfunction occurred in the power supply system.
