APT Satellite signed in July 2016 a contract with China Great Wall Industry Corp. (CGWIC) of Beijing for the construction and launch of the APStar-6D Ka-band high throughput communications satellite. APStar 6D will likely be built on CAST's DFH-5 platform. The satellite has a 15-year life time. It will feature an electric propulsion system.
