TerraSAR-X is a German satellite built by EADS Astrium on behalf of DLR. It is equipped with a SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) capable of taking images of the Earth with a maximum resolution of 1m. The pictures will be marketed by a specific company: InfoTerra-GmbH. The satellite has a launch mass of 1346kg. Because of its large size, the KB Youzhnoïe had to develop a larger than usual fairing.
