The rocket and the AMOS-6 satellite were lost during a pre-launch static fire test on September 1st at 13:07 UTC. An anomaly in the second stage LOx tank occurred minutes before the planned firing of the nine Merlin 1D engines on the first stage and resulted in a large explosion. The SLC-40 launch pad sustained significant damage.
