Yamal 201 & 202

Wiki

JSC Gascom is currently developing the Yamal communication system and is manufacturing two Yamal-200 communications satellites. One of them, Yamal 201, carries a C- and Ku-band payload and will be positioned at 90° E, colocated with Yamal-102 (C-band), that provides back-up and possibility to develop Yamal-100 users' networks. The use of Ku-band will broaden range of telecommunication services that JSC Gascom provides. Thus, operation of two Yamal-200 series satellites in 2003 will provide guaranteed orbital back-up for the Yamal-102 satellite, form a basis for further development of Gazprom corporate communication network, and will broaden scope and number of telecommunication services through Yamal satellite network.
