Wiki

MSTI 1 (Miniature Sensor Technology Integration 1) had a four day mission to photograph infrared images of islands in the eastern Pacific Ocean. It was the first of a series of low-cost satellites which were intended to assist the Air Force's Strategic Defense Initiative Organization in its missile sensor technology. It was stabilized by a cold-gas reaction system. An FM transmitter relayed the infrared camera data to Air Force tracking stations.
