The Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), succeeding SOHO, is a solar observing satellite with four primary objectives: researching the Solar Cycle, understanding the role of the magnetic field in delivering energy to the solar atmosphere, studying the evolution of the Sun's outer regions over various time scales, and monitoring solar radiation levels, including UV and EUV emissions.
