XJY-7 is an Earth observation satellite with a SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar). It is likely to be part of a technical trial to create a two-satellite SAR observation network, one in GEO, and the other in LEO.

Haisi-1

The Haisi-1 satellite is jointly developed by the 38 Institute of China Electricity Science and Technology (CECT) and the Institute of Astronomical Research (IARI), which started its development work in June 2019.

Haisi-1 is the first test satellite of a 200-kg class, 1-meter resolution, C-band SAR remote sensing satellite based on active phased array antenna, which is the first of its kind in China, aimed at the needs of industry, academia, and research in marine scientific research and remote sensing applications, and exploring new modes of commercial spaceflight.

The satellite is jointly named by the Beijing Shenfei Academy of Space Application Technology and Beijing Aerospace Cloud Education Technology Co.
