Mission Details

VIPER (GM-1)

Astrobotic's Griffin lander is a lunar lander which will deliver NASA's VIPER rover to the moon as part of the Commercial Lunar Payloads Services (CLPS) program. VIPER (Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover) is a lunar rover developed by NASA's Ames Research Center. The rover will be tasked with prospecting for lunar resources in the western edge of Nobile Crater (South Pole), especially by mapping the distribution and concentration of water ice. Multiple scientific payloads will likely be included on Griffin's exterior.
